The CENIC conference connection provides a temporary two-day link from SDSC to Mount Soledad to Paradise Point, which is the location of this year's conference.

Three antennas were installed on the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) tower at Red Mountain, in anticipation of the connection to the Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve (SMER). A four-foot antenna now points to SMER, an eight-foot antenna points to UC San Diego (via Mount Soledad), and a three-foot 2.4GHz antenna will connect to a relay on tribal land.
